Death of John Boyce

Palo Alto Live Oak

October 13, 1899

Mr. John Boyce died sunday afternoon after a long illness with dropsy at the home of his daughter Mrs. Annie B. Williams near the Methodist church. Mr. Boyce came to Palo Alto a little over a year ago but owing to his advanced age he has been confied to the house the greater part of time.

He was born in Kent county, England, 76 years and six months ago, and leaves a family of seven children, a son and daughter in England, three sons in Utica, N. Y., one daughter in Reno, Nevada, and Mrs. Williams here.

The funeral was held at the residence Tuesday foreoon, Rev. L. M. Burwell officiating, and the interment was in the Union cemetery at Redwood City

Judge Quinn was seventy-five years old and had been in failing health for several years past so that an attack of la grippe was followed by death after a few days sickness.
