CORNELIUS N. CHRIST
A Popular Young Man Passes Away
After a Brief Illness
C. N. Christ, oldest son of John Christ,
the Town Marshal, died Sunday night of
typhoid fever. The young man who was
born here nearly thirty years ago
was beloved by all and his death has caused profound
sorrow.
He attended the public school of this city
and grew to manhood here. His
gentlemanly demeanor, kind disposition,
and entertaining manner made for him
a wide circle of frieds. His sudden demise
in the morning of life is sad indeed.
His memory will long be cherished by those
who knew him. Some three
months ago he was taken ill and compelled
to give up his messenger business.
His illness was not considered serious at
first and a partial recovery encouraged
his family, but he had a relapse and his
frail constitution could not stand the
ravages of the fever and he finally succumbed.
The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon
from the family home and was attended by many sympathizing friends.
Rev. F. H. Maar conducted a short service
and spoke words of comfort to the
stricken family. A choir composed of
Mrs. Maar, Miss Eva Cook, Mr. Maar and
Mr. Hall of San Mateo sang, with
feeling, "Nearer, My God, to Thee," and
"Abide in Me."
The vast number of floral tributes show
how well he was liked among his
associates and friends.
Interment took place in Union Cemetery.
The pall-bearers were Ed. Goodspeed,
Edward Green, W.B. Lawrence of San Mateo;
Ana Hull of San Carlos; Maurico Cooper and A.D. Walsh,
Redwood City.
