OBITUARY ---------------Times And Gazette

Saturday, Feb 23, 1884

August Kugeler, the eldest son of August and Meta Kugeler, of Menlo Park, was drowned in the San Francisquito Creek on Saturday afternoon last, while playing on the bank. The creek had risen to a considerable depth, and when the little fellow accendentally fell into the stream, the current was so strong that it soon carried him beyond the power of aid. The alarm was quickly given but the trecherous stream baffled all the aid of willing hands that came to his assistance. The body was not recovered until the followibng Monday. The funeral took place from the Presbyterian Church in Menlo Park on Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock. A large number of carriages followed the remains to the Union Cemetery in Redwood City where they were interred.
