OBITUARY ---------------

MRS MARY STEWART

Redwood City Šemocrat

January 9, 1902

Mrs Mary Stewart aged 70 years, passed away at her residence in this city Sunday. Her children - Messers William and Murdock Stewart, Miss Mary Stewart, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Tannahill and Mrs. Lawson were all with her at her home. Though grief stricken. they find consolation in the thought that a reward of eternal happiness was promised to the good and such was Mrs. Stewart. She was a loving and sacrificing mother, a consecrated and consistent Christian, a sympathetic and tender neighbor and her absence will be sorely felt.

The funeral Services were held at the house on Tuesday at 2 o’clock. Rev H.N. Sink, her former pastor of twenty years ago gave the “Salutation to the Home” and offered prayer. The choir then sang “Nearer my God to Thee”, after which Pastor Maar read the scriptures. The service at the home closed with the singing of “Rock of Ages”.

She was laid to rest at Union Cemetery, impressive services being held at the grave by Mr. Sink and Mr. Maar. The public school closed during the afternoon to allow the teachers to attend the funeral.
