SPRING CLEANUP 2017

The ground was pretty dry, making weed pulling (and ivy pulling) difficult.

This group pulled ivy along Union Cemetery's back fence. This is a really tough job.

Thank you Woodside Green Academy!!

A third group from the Woodside High School Green Academy. This group had the "loppers", and so they got to clear the path behind the Hughes vault, and uncover a couple of headstones covered by vegetation.

  • Jordy
  • Alberto
  • Diego
  • Paola
  • Julian

Thank you Woodside Green Academy!!!

Barton and Mason were the first to arrive for a work assignment. They got to pull ivy from the only place where the ivy has really crossed the driveway - a hard job. Several large trash bags of ivy later, things look a lot better.

THANK YOU Barton and Mason!

Carlton is amazing. He has been to multiple Cleanup Days, always with a big smile on his face, and ready to work hard. This time he got ivy detail right near the gate, and he stayed with it the whole time. That dastardly ivy had climbed up the fence INSIDE the pipe posts. They wont be back this year, anyway.

THANK YOU CARLTON!

Here are more students from Woodside High School's Green Academy. They got to pull weeds from the paths running crossways in the cemetery. Their names are:
  • Albert
  • Dominic
  • Jovanny
THANKS GUYS! AND THANKS, WOODSIDE HIGH SCHOOL GREEN ACADEMY!!!!

I believe these two were helping to remove the brambles from the Philplot Plot. There were others, too, but I didn't get their names or photos. Shoot! It was really tough going because the ground was so hard, and the brambles have so many stickers. Thank you:
  • Paul
  • Sofia
WE'LL GET THOSE DASTERDLY BRAMBLES NEXT TIME.

And as usual, I want to thank
  • Abby Eller from the Historic Union Cemetery Board. Abby always helps on Cleanup day. She's a great asset to the board.
  • Redwood City, its Pride and Beautification Committee, and especially RWC's Parks 'N Rec Department for agreeing to come pick up all the dead ivy. :)
