OBITUARY ---------------

WALTER EBERLE

R.C. Democrat

Thursday, July 19, 1900

Walter, the five year old son of Peter Eberle who lives near Five Points, met with his death last Saturday under the most appalling circumstances. The little fellow climbed onto the trail wagon of Sampson Bros. Shingle team and in some way, either in getting on or off, fell, both wheels of the heavily laden wagon passing over his head, crushing him beyond recognition. He was killed instantly. The accident occurred close to the little fellow’s home on Mound Street and was witnessed only by an elder brother who was too horrified to remember just how it happened. Frank West, the driver, did not see the boy, as he was hidden from view by the load on the first wagon.

The burial took place in Union Cemetery Monday afternoon. Rev. J.J. Martin conducted the services and spoke touchingly on the sad event. An inquest will be held Saturday by Coroner Crowe. Lot 38 Block O
