OBITUARY ---------------NICHOLAS HANSEN

The funeral of Nicholas Hansen, former well known Woodside resident, who died Sunday night, was held at his late residence in Palo Alto this morning and was attended by many of his late friends, and of the family from this city. A solemn requiem mass was celebrated for the repose of his soul at St. Thomas Quinas Church at 9 o’clock, following which the remains were taken to this city for interment in Union Cemetery where the deceased owned a plot.
Hansen is survived by wife, Mrs. Catherine Hansen and the following children Henry J.; Frank A.; Edward A.; Charles A.; Harold A.; Mrs. Sedmer Pedro; Mrs. Katherine Kettlewell, and Helen G. Hansen, besides a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Hansen was one of the pioneer settlers in San Mateo County, having come here in 1857. He built the first road across the mountains in this section of the country, the old Bear Gulch Road. He was a personal friend of the late Senator Stanford. The deceased was a man of sterling character, a splendid citizen and one who was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He was a kind and loving husband and father and a true friend to all.
