Mrs. Edna Parsons, who was severely burned at her home 526 Arguello Street in this city on May 24 when a can of gasoline exploded, died from her injuries at the Red Cross Hospital in San Mateo last Friday afternoon.
Mrs. Parsons was cleaning her kitchen stove and had poured a small quantity of gasoline into a can of blacking when the gasoline exploded, setting fire to her clothing. Mrs Parsons’ screams, as she ran into the yard of her home, attracted the attention of Robert Smith, baggage master at the Southern Pacific depot, who ran to her assistance and with considerable difficulty and great danger to himself, succeeded in extinguishing the flames but not before Mrs. Parsons had been terribly burned. The injured woman was rushed to the Hulings Hospital here and later removed to the Red Cross Hospital in San Mateo.
Mrs. Parsons is survived by her husband, George A. Parsons, who is employed at the plant of the National Magnesium Manufacturing Company in this city, and three small children, the youngest two years old.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the chapel of the Redwood City Undertaking Company, Rev. C.H. Stevens of the First Congregational Church conducting the services. The interment was in Union Cemetery.
