OBITUARY ---------------WESLEY J. BUNN
Democrat
Oct 2, 1902
Pioneer resident passes to his long rest.
Wesley J. Bunn, one of the pioneers of California who hewed his way through the woods of San Mateo County, has answered the final call and joined those of his early days who have gone on that journey which ends in eternity. Mr. Bunn was well known in this community, and in all parts of the county bordering on this valley. He came across the plains in 1852 and for a while resided in Oregon, but after a short residence there, he removed to this county, working first in company with his brother, John at cutting posts, rails and pickets on the mountain near Woodside. In 1857, Mr. Bunn commenced farming on the Dennis Martin ranch, and for several years there after he followed this occupation, the last place he farmed being the Earl ranch near Redwood. In 1875 he purchased thc old flourmill from Curtis Baird. For a few years Mr. Bunn ran the mill but in 1880 he went to Fresno. After unsuccessful ventures there, and again in Oregon, he returned to this town and up to the time of his death followed the milling business. He was aged 75 years.
