F.S. LURVEY

F.S. Lurvey, a former resident of this town, died at the Odd Fellows home at Thermalito, Hutte Co., Saturday aged 80. His body was shipped to Undertaker Crowe, Monday and during the afternoon, was buried in Union Cemetery under the auspices of Bay View Lodge of Odd Fellows, of which he was a long time member. Rev. J.J. Martin conducted the service at the cemetery. Mr. Lurvey came to this county in the early 60’s and was employed by the late Horace Hawes as Superintendent of his farm adjoining the town. When the Menlo Park Water Co. was established, deceased was made it’s superintendent and acted in that capacity for a number of years. Twenty years ago he removed to Butte Co. and engaged in fruit raising which occupation he followed until old age rendered his retirement necessary. He leaves two grown-up sons, Robert and William. his daughter, Mary, well remembered here, died in Oregon some years ago and was brought to this city for burial.
